The Prairie Habitat Joint Venture (PHJV) partnership was established in the late 1980s to deliver the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) on the Canadian prairies. The partnership includes public and private agencies and organizations representing a broad range of landscape conservation interests in prairie, parkland and associated boreal forest landscapes in western Canada.
Currently there area over 340 partners whose financial contributions, expertise, and in-kind support contribute to the PHJV success. Approximately 17,000 landowners are inbolved in PHJV programs - a fact that demonstrates the broad support of the PHJV by the rural agricultural community.

The PHJV guides conservation of the Canadian Prairie Pothole and Western Boreal regions under the NAWMP Agreement. The PHJV also strives to conserve habitat for all birds and is a partner under the North American Bird Conservation Initiative.
